I’m embarrassed to say you can’t walk anywhere in my house without seeing a toy. They are everywhere and we only have one kid! I know we have too many toys. For that reason, I’ve found that I enjoy getting out of the house just so I don’t have to look at all of them.
Kids are just like us. Sometimes they see it all and get overwhelmed. They may not know it, or tell us, but it happens. In my mind it’s similar to what happens when I turn on Netflix to find something to watch. I turn it on, scroll through some of the options, and then turn it off because there are too many things to choose from. Sometimes simplicity is better.
Every year the idea of “experiences instead of things” comes up either between colleagues at work or other friends with kids. Any parent that is interested in adding experiences to their Christmas list for the kids or family this year should definitely start here. Take a look at the ideas we came up with.
