Where are you from originally and how long have you lived in Nebraska?
I spent time growing up in Kansas and Missouri. After high school I headed up here to college at Concordia University in Seward, Nebraska. That’s where Jonathan and I met. We’ve spent the last 14 years in a variety of places. Spent a year in Green Bay for an internship. Then we moved to Kansas City for a few years before landing in Houston teaching middle school together at one of the area Lutheran schools. We just moved to Nebraska in July of 2020.
Child(ren) and Age(s)? Mackenzie is the light of our lives. She just turned 3 in March.
One thing people would be surprised to know about you…
I am the oldest of five and the only girl. My youngest brother is a freshman in highschool.
Favorite thing about living in Nebraska?
I’ve enjoyed so much about living in Nebraska.
I love that everything is so close and easy to get to.
I love that there are a variety of things to do with the kids.
I love having a house with a big yard compared to what we had in Houston.
I love the views (sunrise, sunset, fall colors, blankets of snow, etc.)
Funniest shortcut/routine for helping you through parenthood?
Becoming a mom and growing into motherhood has been amazing. I always had these set ideas of how I would do things, when I would do them, etc. As a mom, though, it’s just not the case. I tend to live by a few different mantras when it comes to our daughter.
-I will say/promise just about anything to get her to do what I need her to do.
-Some things just aren’t worth the fight.
-There isn’t a mess I can’t clean up.
-She’s gotta learn sometime.
-No reason to fight about food. (If she eats, great! If not, she’ll eat when she’s hungry.)
-We let her take the lead on a lot. It probably seems a bit scary to some people, but it works for us.

I’m a former middle school English, Literature, and Math teacher. I love teaching and hope to get back in the classroom in a few years once Mackenzie is in school full time.
Currently, I am full-time mommy to our three year old daughter, Mackenzie.
I also am a Young Living Distributor @hoping4shunsine.calm. One of my best friends introduced me to oils a few years ago when I was struggling with anxiety. I jumped on board and never looked back. For me it’s the “easy button” similar to a Sams or Costco membership. I order oils, supplements, hygiene products, make-up, cleaning supplies, and more all while getting points back to spend on other things.
Other fun facts about me:
–Coming up on our 14th wedding anniversary this June.
–Jonathan and I were only born 15 minutes apart.
–I don’t do coffee, but I’m never far from a Pepsi.
–I love to read and am a life-long learner.
I’m so excited to be able to learn and meet more mamas in Nebraska. The more I’ve grown into motherhood, the more I’ve realized how much I want to create and nurture a community of moms that supports one another along the journey. Thanks for being here! Hope you are up for the ride, too!
