Chelsie Englund-Thor
(Dr. Chelsie Englund DC CACCP BBCI)

Where do you work?
Creekwood Chiropractic and Dr. Chelsie LLC

What is your job?
I am a Chiropractor, Health & Wellness Coach, and Childbirth Educator!

How many kids do you have and what are their ages?
I have two kiddos! Both are girls ages 6 and 2

What do you love about living in West Point?
Oh my goodness the community! The community here is so supportive of helping small businesses to succeed and is always improving on the town and community as a whole! In just this little town it is so amazing all the things that we have that sometimes are only found in larger cities. And the PEOPLE are amazing! I have found some of the best of friends here.

What’s your favorite restaurant and/or place to shop in your city?
Ooh tough to decide but I sure do love Bohemian Duck for a date night out here in West Point, but I do have to say Red Door for my local coffee fix!

Tell us about your career.
What would you like to know?! 😊 I have been a Chiropractor for the last 8-ish years now and it just continues to get more and more fun as the years go by! While I do see all ages, I have additional training and certification in seeing infants, children, and moms from pre pregnancy stage all the way through post-partum and beyond and it is SO fulfilling and amazing getting to be a part of and watch all these little families grow! After having two of my own children and experiencing childbirth education myself from amazing people, meeting others in the birth community of Nebraska, and being immersed in the birth world through my Chiropractic work, I took the leap to get certified in Childbirth Education! (I could talk birth all day so why not teach it right? 😉 ) Additionally, I provide health, wellness, and fitness coaching (online and in person). This stemmed most recently due to being a busy working mom of 2 and previous athlete. I noticed many other mamas approaching me with questions and struggling to make their own health and wellness a priority, (something I struggled with myself too and broke through) so my health coaching business was born! As a chiro and mama who is walking through it too, I am able to provide other mamas ways to revamp their lifestyle and feel healthy, vibrant, and like themselves again through mind, body and soul!

Why did you decide to become a Chiropractor?
I decided as a sophomore in high school that Chiropractic was what I NEEDED to do. I already knew that I wanted to do something that involved a biology degree, was natural minded, and was service based where I got to see and talk to people every day. Then, as an athlete, I was struggling with my lower back during track season that year to the point I could no longer compete. I was told there was nothing that could be done…until I was taken to a local chiropractor in town and within a few visits I was back to track season (and went on to play college volleyball) all thanks to sticking with chiropractic care! Naturally, I was intrigued and started asking more questions and later discovered that it didn’t just help with my low back pain but also helped my cycles be at LEAST 50% less painful! Since then I was hooked and had my mind up that THIS was what I was meant to do and I am so grateful that I get to be in this profession and continue to grow and witness all the amazing things that it provides others.

What’s the best thing about your job?
Working with full families! Some of the families that I have been working with I have seen since it was just mom and dad, and then baby and now they are families of 4 and 5! I get to see each of these families grow from pregnancies to seeing babies just a day old to watching them go to their first year of school and support them through those times in health, wellness and growth. How could you NOT love that! 😊 Seeing families is fun and adventurous and unpredictable. Some days I’m on the floor coloring with them before their adjustments and other days we race down the hallway! But aside from that bringing a sense of calm to mothers too for even just 5 minutes is incredibly rewarding. (I could go on and on with this question 😉 )

How do you juggle work with mommy hood?
Both of these categories are at times unpredictable and can change on the daily! But I find that making time for yourself each and every day in the morning even if for just 10 minutes makes all the difference in how we handle the rest of our day. A moment of quiet time, prayer, a few pages of a book, a podcast, whatever it may be.

I also try to make sure that I give myself grace in each day and that when things get tough or things seem to be “hitting the fan” so to speak, that I take a moment to take a breath and remember that this is only a day or a season.

And, last but not least, of course is having a circle of other mamas to lean on and give and receive support from. It’s amazing how uplifting it is to have a group of women who support each other through each part of motherhood because it is rewarding and one of the BEST jobs we will ever have in our life but it sure is HARD and was never meant to be conquered alone. 😉

What hobbies do you enjoy?
I love being outdoors either taking a walk and listening to a good podcast or playing with the girls, crafting, coffee dates with friends, learning new things or skills (I’m a serial learner and always taking the next course in something), wine dates with hubby and friends, and spa days.
